4-star | Paphos
The hotel's slogan is "We offer you the very heart of Paphos" and that is exactly what the Hotel Avanti's strategic position, in the tourist area, allows it to do. Surrounding the hotel are a variety of restaurants and bars offering many different Cypriot and international dishes. A local bus service stops immediately outside and calls at both the harbour and 'Kato Paphos', the shopping centre. The beach is just 250 metres away. There are some delightful walks immediately outside the hotel and a stroll to the harbour takes approximately 30 minutes. Extremely spacious and tastefully furnished, the Avanti's most memorable feature is probably its huge free-form swimming pool, which is surrounded by sun-lounging areas, lawns and flower beds.

Paphos, on the west coast of Cyprus, has a wealth of monuments to visit including the intriguing Tombs of the Kings, the extremely well preserved mosaics of The House of Dionysos and other ancient buildings, an amphitheatre and several fascinating churches. In addition, it offers a highly attractive harbour, from which a variety of boat trips depart, an extended beach area and a wonderful array of shops, including a permanent market selling fruits, vegetables and livestock, fashionable boutiques and a number of stores selling exceptionally good value leather goods. A paradise for shoe-shoppers, it also offers unexpected bargains for the visually challenged, containing many inexpensive opticians. An extremely popular low season resort, Paphos is accessible from both Paphos and Larnaca airports.
Cyprus
‘Aphrodite's Island of Love’ is adored by many Personal Touch guests. Tucked away in the top right hand corner of the Mediterranean, the island is easily accessible by charter and scheduled flights, yet on arrival in this magical paradise one feels far removed from the pressures of European life. The genuine Cypriot hospitality will astound you, from shopkeepers offering you a drink whilst you select your purchase to locals chatting to you in the street about the marvellous weather. Special mentions should be made of the Cypriot "meze" cuisine, which is simply mouthwatering, and of the archaeological sites surrounding Paphos, which are fascinating. To ensure the trip of a lifetime, why not treat yourself to a 2-day cruise to neighbouring Egypt to visit the Cairo Museum, Tutankhamun's treasures and the Sphynx and Pyramids of Giza?
A Traditional Cypriot Village Taverna: Enjoy a sumptuous meal of traditional Cypriot meze at the high quality, family owned and managed 'Thanasis' restaurant in the typical rural Cypriot village of Kouklia. Many freshly prepared and home-made local dishes are offered all washed down with the delicious local village wine. During your meal you will enjoy an engaging show comprising Greek and Cypriot folk dancing and music.
Kyrenia & Northern Cyprus: We will travel across the island to the Turkish north of Cyprus to enjoy the stunning scenery presented by the castle-topped Five Fingered Mountains and the enchanting ancient city port of Kyrenia. En route we will visit the beautifully located Bellapais Abbey. Bellapais village was once home to Lawrence Durrell and is where he wrote 'Bitter Lemons'.
The Many Faces of Nicosia: We drive inland to Nicosia, the only divided capital in the world. We will have the chance to experience life on both sides of the Green Line; Greek Cypriot to the South and Turkish Cypriot to the North. Our day will include visits to St John's Cathedral, the 16th-century city walls and free time to enjoy the old pedestrianized neighbourhood 'Laiki Yetonia'. After crossing the Green Line (don't forget your passport!) we visit Saint Sofia, a former Catholic Cathedral converted to a Mosque and Buyuk Han, a 16th-century Turkish inn.
Troodos Mountains: Visit the scenic rural heartlands of Cyprus with wine-tasting, time at leisure in the beautiful mountain village of Omodos (home to the opulently decorated Timios Stavros Monastery), and a leisurely traditional Cypriot lunch all included.
Paphian Villages: This serendipitous tour takes in an interesting selection of contrasting villages in the Paphos region and also includes visits to Agios Neophytos monastery (founded by a 12th-century hermit). We continue travelling Northwest towards the town of Polis where we will visit the famous 'Baths of Aphrodite' situated on the borders of the spectacular Akamas peninsular with its fantastic landscapes. Legend has it that the goddess Aphrodite used to bathe and meet her lover Adonis at these baths.
The Akamas Peninsula: Explore one of the wildest, least disturbed areas of the island, largely protected today as a nature reserve. A walker’s paradise, it allows one to slip back in time to a majestic, scenic, tranquil, and largely undeveloped Cyprus.
